Morning Has Broken

Well, here we are in an Internet cafe in Ennis, County Clare! We didn’t sleep a wink, Tylenol PM notwithstanding. Ah, well. We sat with a lovely man from Cork on the plane over, and who needs sleep when you’ve got brogues? That’s always been my motto, anyway.

I’m kind of shocked that we got farther than New Jersey, to tell you the truth. We sat on the tarmac in KC for an extra hour, because the pilot said that “as always happens this time of day,” the New Jersey runways were so backed up that they wouldn’t clear us to fly there. Then, once we got to New Jersey, we circled for more than thirty minutes before they’d let us land.

That would have all been cool, except for that our layover in NJ was only to have been for one hour and twelve minutes! We raised only a bit of a stink, so that the customer service person just off the plane called over to the other gate and had the plane wait for us. Then a guy driving one of those nifty carts zoomed up to the gate and we piled in. It would have taken us the rest of our natural lives to make it to the plane headed for Ireland without the cart.

But we’re here, and we’re happy, and someday I will pee again. Amazing how things kind of shut down when you’ve flying over the pond. I’m pouring the fluids in, though, and you know what they say about what goes in…..

More later, and I promise not to concentrate too much on my bathroom (or lack of bathroom) related difficulties.

I do have standards, you know!

Fallible Comments...
  1. Hey! Welcome to my time zone! So glad you are here!

Enjoy your day. Try to stay awake as LONG as you possibly can, then sleep the night away.

  2. I can't quite get my mind around your making it to another continent already, too bizarre... But wonderful! Have fun, and I hope you get some good sleep tonight!!

  3. Hey, ladies! What I want to know is: Did any of you pray for me to begin peeing efficiently? Because at about 8 am KC time, when I figure folks are reading blogs, I started peeing like crazy! I know, TMI, but still. Thanks! :)

  5. I am glad you're feeling better!

Having said that, at 2:02 am, I was awoken to the shrieking cat-like bark-purr of my toy poodle. Her little bloated belly caused her much pain. She has been constipated ever since. Good-grief, I was late to work because of her pipe problems!

Now, I'm not pointing fingers (too directly), but if biological plumbing problems travel at 119,010 miles per hour with a western heading, I know whose to blame for my lack of sleep. I won't mention any names.

:) Cheerio; Good-eh; Top of dah morning to ya; and the good old US of A version: What's Up?

  6. "8 am KC time"

I offer up my humble apology. I read the time wrong and pointed fingers prematurely.**

**<i>Unless, there was a vortex black-hole[d] through time/space (but then again, a black hole, even the size of a nuetrino would most likely create a big enough event horizon to suck you right through it, and unless you have assembled your elementry particles back together on the other side of time/space - and your computers' - then I guess it is safe to assume that the cause was not yours. Plus it is highly unlikely you could get wireless broadband to follow you. Although, your close to France and thier wireless rocks-socks off ours.

  9. You know how I relate to the no-peeing thing? God, remember the whole "Todd breaking up with me" incident? I didn't pee for three days! Nothing like going home with a cathedar bag from the ER to get you to try to pee on your own. BLAH.

  11. Thanks for this. I got the link from a comment you left at another site and found it to be a great compilation of the story thus far. Here’s praying for the integrity of the trade
